Shipping and Storage

1. -20℃±5℃, stored in the dark, transported, and subjected to repeated freeze-thaw cycles no more than 5 times, with a validity period of 12 months.
2. The collected or processed samples should be stored at 2℃~8℃ for no more than 24 hours; If long-term storage is required, it should be stored at -70℃ or below, with no more than 3 freeze-thaw cycles.

Description

This kit uses TaqMan probe method for real-time fluorescence PCR technology, designs a pair of universal type specific primers for Streptococcus suis, and combines them with a specific probe to amplify and detect the universal type DNA of Streptococcus suis in vitro using fluorescence PCR technology, which is used for pathogen diagnosis of suspected infected individuals in clinical practice.

Application

Streptococcus suis is an important zoonotic pathogen that can cause various diseases, including meningitis, arthritis, endocarditis, sepsis, pneumonia, etc. According to the capsule polysaccharide antigen of bacteria, they can be classified into 35 serotypes, namely types 1-34 and type 1/2. So far, several provinces and cities in China have reported cases of Streptococcus suis infection. In 1998, nearly 80000 pigs were infected; In 2005, over 600 pigs were infected, causing huge losses to the pig farming industry. This kit is suitable for detecting the universal type of Streptococcus suis in samples such as tonsils, organs or muscles, throat swabs, etc., and is used for auxiliary diagnosis of Streptococcus suis universal type infection.

Specimen collection

Aseptically cut 1g of tonsils, viscera, or muscle samples from pigs that have died of illness or been slaughtered; When taking throat swab samples from pigs, the swab should be deeply inserted into the throat and upper jaw, and scraped back and forth 3-5 times to collect secretions.
