β-actin is a major protein component in striated muscle fibers, as well as a major component of muscle filaments and cytoskeleton microfilaments. It has contraction function, wide distribution, molecular weight of 43kDa, high conservation, and relatively stable expression in cells. Therefore, it is often used as an internal reference for calibrating systems.
